- 1 SEND:
The part of your email program that sends email is called SMTP
which means Simple Mail Transfer
Protocol with emphasis on the word transfer. There
are excellent instructions for setting Outgoing eMail on the Xplornet
Web Site. Click
on these words to see these instructions.
The most important thing
to remember is that the outgoing Xplornet SMTP server
requires verification. This is provided by your Xplornet
eMail address and password, NOT
your RiverLink eMail address. If you have forgotten your Xplornet email
settings call Xplornet 1 866 841 6001 and ask them what they are.
- 2 RECEIVE:
The email
that you RECEIVE is stored
in a special computer called a POP3 server. In order
for Outlook Express to download the email that is waiting for you, you
must tell it where your POP3 server is. (POP means
Post Office Protocol
which is a very appropriate description of a place where your mail is
held waiting for you to pick it up.)
Sympatico has a POP3
server, IGS has a POP3 server and RIVERLINK has a POP3 server.
Outlook Express will
receive email from ALL of your different email addresses so long as
you tell it where to look (and of course so long as you have an account
still open with the provider).

Your RiverLink POP3 server
